Police Security Officer

Security officers are responsible for providing entry-level security, safety, and protection for people and property, involving physical tasks such as walking, standing, detaining individuals, and maintaining extensive public contact. These positions require shift work, including weekends and holidays, with responsibilities reviewed through reports and direct observation to ensure compliance with established rules and guidelines.

Public Safety Dispatcher

The Public Safety Dispatcher position involves processing emergency and non-emergency calls, dispatching police units for the St. Louis County Police Department and its contracted agencies, and providing confidential criminal history data. The role includes maintaining mobile unit locations through mapping systems, answering and routing priority calls, and responding to public inquiries, with work reviewed for timely and appropriate responses according to established procedures.

The Police Records Clerk position involves performing clerical duties of moderate difficulty to maintain police reports, utilizing office equipment to manage files and retrieve police information under direct supervision. The role requires working 10-hour shifts, four days a week, from 7:20 AM to 5:20 PM, with occasional holiday rotations and flexibility to meet Department needs.

Police Warrant Clerk

The Police Warrant Clerk position involves performing clerical tasks related to the preparation and processing of arrest warrants, utilizing office equipment and handling some public contact under direct supervision. The role offers permanent shifts within a 24/7 schedule, with hours from 5:30 AM to 1:30 PM, 1:30 PM to 9:30 PM, or 9:30 PM to 5:30 AM, depending on Department needs.

Police Cadet (non-Academy position)

The St. Louis County Police Department’s Cadet Program offers young adults ages 18 to 21 a unique opportunity to gain hands-on law enforcement experience while rotating through various divisions of the department. This paid, apprenticeship-style program provides exposure to patrol, communications, the Police Academy, and other units, preparing cadets for a future career in law enforcement through diverse and specialized assignments.

Police Mobile Technology Specialist

The Police Mobile Technology Specialist is responsible for the installation, modification and minor repairs to computer and server hardware, software systems and provides technical assistance including training to users. Work entails security management, support of mobile computers, department camera systems, workstation troubleshooting and hardware installation and repair. Work is performed under the administrative direction of the Director, Strategic Technology Unit.

Police Regional Information and Intelligence Center (RIIC) Investigator

The RIIC Investigator involves collecting, analyzing, preparing, and quickly disseminating critical information to officers within the St. Louis County Police Department and regional agencies. The role also supports officers and detectives by providing key information and evidence to assist in solving crimes, under the direction of the Commander, Regional Information and Intelligence Center.

Unpaid Police Recruit (Academy Open Enrollment)

Applicants who do not meet the qualifications for a St. Louis County Police Recruit position may apply for an Open Enrollment spot in an upcoming basic training class, with eligibility determined by the Basic Training Supervisor and Academy Director. Please note that successful completion of the Police Recruit Basic Training Class does not guarantee employment as a police officer, as additional qualifications and selection processes may be required by individual agencies.
