Role Description
Emergency medical dispatchers are the voice behind 911. These dispatchers are experts in staying calm during even the most extreme emergencies, talking callers through basic instructions to provide aid before help arrives, and dispatchers route fire crews, emergency medical teams, and law enforcement officers to the scene of the emergency.
All dispatchers participate in specialized training, ensuring they understand how to handle all types of emergency situations and stay calm for callers.
Education Requirements
High School Diploma (or GED)
Successful Completion of Police Academy
*Some departments also require an associate's degree or a bachelor's degree in criminal justice.
