Role Description
Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) provide medical support and must be prepared to handle a variety of different medical concerns and emergencies. All EMTs must be certified in CPR and other life-saving skill sets.
EMTs are employed through local fire districts and ambulance districts. Not only do EMTs have the knowledge to help stabilize patients in medical emergencies, but they also assist the community at large-scale events to manage medical concerns.
For those interested in a career as an EMT, expect to allocate a semester to complete the certifications and coursework necessary for this role.
Education Requirements
High School Diploma (or GED)
Successful Completion of Police Academy
*Some precincts also require an associate's degree or a bachelor's degree in criminal justice.
