Role Description
A School Resource Officer (SRO) is a law enforcement officer assigned to a school to ensure the safety and security of students, staff, and property. They build positive relationships with students, provide guidance, and enforce laws when necessary. SROs also educate the school community on safety-related topics and serve as a liaison between the school and local law enforcement.
Education Requirements
High School Diploma or GED with one year of full-time police experience, two years of active military service, or four years of National Guard/Reserve service
32 semester credit hours from an accredited college or university with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or a cumulative average letter grade of "C"
40 hours of basic training
